I'd say the ambiance is geared towards the owners age range. Perfect if you don't have as bad a sweet tooth as I do. I can taste the freshness peaches but it actually wasn't sweet enough for me and made me want my friends homestyle version. Peach Cobbler with ice cream: very basic. A-OK for a craving.įried corn: wasn't that impressive just kernels of dirty-looking corn from the fryer that tasted like corn.Ĭollard greens: Slightly salty (but so is everything else here!) but good and made me feel better about all the other non-green things on the menu. Mac & cheese: rich with a thick layer of melted cheese on top but not much cheese underneath. Squash: had a sweet element to it but it got cold fast and I don't like cold squishy squash. The meat just fell off the bone right into your mouth. It was fresh and crispy without too much grease.īBQ Turkey wings: OMG this was country fair worthy. The hype escalated my expectations and so did my hunger.Ĭame on a late Friday night and had the Uncle Rons, the Turkey wings, and basically all of their sides: mac & cheese, fried corn, squash casserole, and collard greens.įried chicken: I don't like or order this normallly but chicken was pretty good. If your visiting Atlanta cross this restaurant off of your to do list. For all of the praise that I have seen this place get I just cannot understand how they continue to be in business and constantly have service comparable to no other place i've seen. Letdown isn't a good enough word to describe the experience. The mac & cheese was bland, It would be nice if I could actually taste the cheese in it. I couldn't even find one other good thing to say about them. Their only point was the fact that they were tender. My bbq turkey wings didn't taste like bbq turkey wings. When our food finally came out it was lukewarm at best. We sat there for at least 50 minutes to an hour waiting on our food with no interaction from our server. How could you be a place that specializes in chicken and only have wings!? After I got over this travesty I decided to order the turkey wings with mac & cheese and cabbage, while Mary chose the Midnight Train with mac & cheese, and my friend Jermaine chose the blackened salmon with lima beans. After we received our waters and Mary's favorite, Arnold Palmer, it was time to order our grub.īefore we were able to put our order in we were alerted to the fact that all they had as far as chicken was concerned was wings. We got here about 2 am-ish and the restaurant was at about 40% capacity. Needless to say I was ready to chow down. I came here one evening with my other half and a friend of mine after a night of lounging and partying. The most overrated place in Atlanta, bar none. Side note there are "very helpful" people that will guide you, but look for your donations for "helping" NO AFFILIATION with Gladys Knight's. there are pay parking lots on both sides of the restaurant, the actual restaurant parking lot is in the back of the restaurant, go around the corner and the lot is free. We heard about the inspection failure, but we saw nothing that was eyebrow raising. Arizona, Ohio, Philadelphia, Maryland, Texas, Virginia, Connecticut to name a few. Did I mention that only one of us is native to Georgia. No one had negative comments and everyone left patting their bellies. We had a nice waiter, who did his best to accommodate us all, by himself.
